Chronology of the film stems from a former employee of the United Nations named Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt) and his family who were stuck in traffic in Philadelphia. When he heard the news from the radio to alert you that an outbreak of rabies throughout the world and worse still they are bitten will turn into a zombie. Lane could lucky family managed to escape and take refuge in the apartment while waiting rescued by a helicopter sent by his former colleagues in the United Nations, Thierry (Fana Mokoena).
Gerry Lane and the family survived and eventually was allowed to stay on the ship, where in the vessel used to study the origin of the outbreak and spread of the virus and find a vaccine, but there are conditions that must be done so that families can stay Gerry. He was assigned to investigate the virus and help Fassbach (Elyes Gabel) finds its source at Camp Humphreys, a military base in South Korea where the word "zombies" were used for the first time calling this outbreak.
Arriving at the base of the zombies attack them and fashbach were killed by accidentally firing a gun into him. Through investigation of the survivors Garry knows that the zombies are interested in sound. Also shows the base commander Garry room full of bodies burned.
The story was continued discussing about a CIA agent who was jailed for treason garri sent to Jerusalem and there Intelligen Head of the Israeli Mossad (Jurgen Warmbrunn) has set up a safe zone just before the outbreak spreads, meaning that Israel already knew about this event.
There are so many exciting stories in this film, Gerry eventually met his family back in the safe zone Freeport, Nova Scotia. Gerry managed to take a "vaccine" of some deadly pathogens and directly developed. The story ends with a happy ending and ultimately mankind may be saved. Mankind still has hope and Gerry said that "This is not over, not even close.
